Troops arrest suspected security personnel impersonator in Plateau

A suspected impersonator, identified as Salim Idris, has been arrested by troops of Sector 1 Operation Ensuring Peace, OPEP, in Plateau State for allegedly impersonating security personnel, snatching phones and causing public disturbance.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X on Sunday explained that security sources stated that the suspect was arrested at about 11:30 am on October 25 at Filin Sukuwa, following credible intelligence about his alleged criminal activities in Jos local government area.

According to Makama, the sources said the troops acted on the intelligence, trailed the suspect and apprehended him while he was dressed in military camouflage uniform.

He added, “Preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed that the suspect had been involved in a series of alleged criminal activities, including public disturbance, phone snatching and impersonation of security agencies.”
