Troops repel terrorists in Sokoto, rescue civilian

Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with operatives of the Department of State Services, have repelled suspected terrorists during a security operation in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to security sources, the operation took place around 2:50 am on May 14 after intelligence reports indicated terrorist activity near Lugu village.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared on X that troops reportedly engaged the armed suspects in a gun battle, forcing them to flee towards the Bafarawa area.

Following the encounter, the troops conducted follow-up operations around Danzanke in Modachi village and along a riverside near a damaged bridge in the area.

During the operation, the soldiers rescued a civilian who sustained gunshot injuries.

“The injured victim was evacuated for medical attention, while security operatives continued clearance and patrol operations across the affected communities to track the fleeing suspects and prevent further terrorist activities,” the sources said.
