Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an alleged kidnapping attempt and rescued six members of a family in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Security sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the troops responded to intelligence on an ongoing attack by armed terrorists targeting the family.
The troops reportedly mobilised to the location and engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee.
Six family members were subsequently rescued unharmed and moved to a secure location for preliminary assessment and care.
According to the report by Zagazola Makama, arrangements are being made to reunite the rescued victims with their relatives.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to respond to distress calls and prevent abductions by armed groups in the North-West.
The identities of the rescued family members and the attackers were not disclosed.
