Troops rescue two kidnapped farm workers, neutralise suspect in Lagos

Troops of the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have rescued two kidnapped farm workers in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State and neutralised one of the suspects involved in the abduction.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama reported that the operation was carried out by the troops alongside the  Police officers and local vigilantes.

The victims, Kelvin Okafor and Alex Anato, were abducted while working on their farm around Igbonla in Epe.

After receiving information about the incident, the security team moved to the area and encountered the kidnappers while they were still holding the victims.

The suspects reportedly abandoned the two men and fled into the surrounding forest after sighting the approaching security personnel.

The troops pursued them, leading to the neutralisation of one suspect, while two others escaped into the bush.

“The rescued victims were found unhurt and subsequently handed over to the Police for further necessary action,” Makama reported.

The remains of the neutralised suspect were also handed over to the Police for further investigation and necessary procedures.
