A disturbing video making rounds on X has left many Africans angry and worried. The short clip shows a group of South African men confronting and physically attacking Black foreign nationals mostly fellow Africans in what looks like a busy public area
In the video, the attackers grab the men by the neck, push them around and shout at them to return to their home countries. “Go back and fix your own country,” they yell. The victims look scared as the confrontation turns violent with punches and pushing.
The video was posted early today by popular X user @Chude_ND1 with the caption: “Troubling video shows some South Africans confronting and beating up Black foreign nationals especially fellow Africans and telling them to return to their home countries. What is the South African Government doing about this?”It has already been viewed over 12,000 times and sparked strong reactions.
Many Nigerians and other Africans online are calling it pure xenophobia and asking why the government is not protecting foreign nationals.
This is not the first time such attacks have happened in South Africa. Locals often blame immigrants for crime, unemployment and other problems. Some replies even claim one man beaten in a similar video was actually a South African from Limpopo who was mistaken for a foreigner because he could not speak Zulu.
So far, there is no official statement from the South African police or government about this particular incident. The video has renewed calls for African leaders to address the growing hatred between fellow Black Africans.
