Trump tells Israel to end Lebanon attacks after Beirut strike

Welcome to The New Arab’s live coverage of all the latest developments from across the region.

Here are some of the key updates:

•    US President Donald Trump has told Israel and Hezbollah to end their attacks after an Israeli strike in Beirut threatened to derail peace negotiations with Iran.

•    Tehran’s chief negotiator said there was ‘no point’ in continuing talks with the US following the attack, which killed at least three people in an apartment building in a southern suburb of the capital. A senior Iranian military official said the strike “will not go unanswered”.

•    Trump has said a peace deal is “so close” to being finalized. Iranian media said earlier that Tehran has not made a final decision about the draft agreement.

•    A Qatari delegation is in Tehran to discuss the negotiations.

•    Israel has continued airstrikes in southern Lebanon and issued forced displacement orders for almost 30 villages.
