US President Donald Trump said he would soon be “reviewing the plan Iran has just sent to us” but warns Washington is unlikely to agree to a deal on Tehran’s current terms.
Tehran has sent a 14-point plan to the US, calling for a pact of non-aggression and the complete lifting of a naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.
The proposal also calls for a complete end to the war “on all fronts” including Lebanon, which has continued to come under Israeli bombardment, killing several people over the past day and destroying a Catholic monastery in Yaroun. At least 2,659 people have been killed in Lebanon since 2 March.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says a resumption to full-scale hostilities with the US remains “likely”, adding that Tehran remains on standby for renewed attacks citing “evidence” that the Trump administration “is not committed to any agreements or treaties”.
Trump, too, told reporters in Florida on Saturday that there remained a possibility for the US to resume attacks on Iran, saying that Iranians “have not yet paid a price high enough for what they have done”.
