A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after advising people against marrying partners they believe they would struggle financially with.
The young woman, identified as @Adasu_d_gr8 on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared the advice while discussing financial stability and marriage.
‘Don’t Marry a Broke Person’
In her post, the woman urged people to consider their financial circumstances before getting married.
“Don’t marry someone that you know both of you will struggle financially.
“Don’t marry a broke person, and I’m not trying to broke shame anybody,” she wrote.
She explained that her concern was not intended to shame people who are financially struggling but to highlight what she believes could be the consequences for children.
‘Your Children Would Pay the Price’
The lady compared a marriage between two financially struggling people to two people with the same blood genotype getting married, arguing that the consequences could affect their children.
“Two broke people getting married is like two AS getting married.
“It won’t affect you much. It’s your children that would pay the prize,” she stated.
She therefore advised people to consider their prospective partner’s financial situation before proceeding with marriage.
‘For the Sake of Your Children’
The X user further directed her advice to women considering marriage to financially struggling men.
“If he’s poor, please say no for the sake of your children,” she wrote.
