American filmmaker, actor, playwright and producer Tyler Perry has revealed that he has no plans to get married, saying his concerns are more about divorce than marriage itself.
Perry made the disclosure while speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he explained that he has witnessed people lose significant wealth following the breakdown of their marriages.
According to the filmmaker, marriage does not scare him, but the financial consequences that can accompany divorce have made him comfortable with remaining single.
“It’s not the marriage that bothers me. It’s the divorce. Everybody that I know that did well and went broke, it was because of a divorce, so I’m good just being free,” Perry said.
The Madea creator’s comments have sparked conversations about marriage, wealth and the financial risks associated with divorce, particularly among high-net-worth individuals.
Perry, who has built a multi-million-dollar entertainment empire through film, television and theatre, said he prefers to maintain his freedom rather than risk the financial complications he associates with divorce.
