UCL Roundup: Lookman scores as Atletico beat Man United, Osimhen falls to Barca

Lookman scored after coming off the bench to help Atlético Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0, while Victor Osimhen played the full match in Galatasaray’s 4-1 defeat to Barcelona.

Ademola Lookman scored nine minutes after coming off the bench as Atlético Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-0, while Victor Osimhen played the full 90 minutes in Galatasaray’s 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League action.

Manchester United threatened through Bryan Mbeumo, but goalkeeper Jan Oblak made key saves to keep the visitors out. Alejandro Grimaldo also came close for Atlético, striking the angle of .. and crossbar with a free-kick.

Johnny Cardoso thought he had doubled Atlético’s lead, but his goal was ruled out after a VAR review found a handball by Marcos Llorente in the build-up.

Introduced in the 70th minute, Lookman struck in the 79th to seal the victory for Atlético, who claimed their first points of the league phase and extended their unbeaten run against United to five matches.

At Rams Park, Galatasaray took a surprise lead in the 28th minute when Aleksey Batrakov’s shot deflected off João Cancelo and into the net.

Cancelo made amends by curling in Barcelona’s equaliser shortly before half-time. The visitors then took control, with Lamine Yamal providing two assists in four minutes as Barcelona completed a 4-1 comeback victory.

Osimhen played the full match but couldn’t prevent Galatasaray from suffering a heavy home defeat. The result extended Barcelona’s winning run across all competitions to 10 matches.

Arsenal beat Lille 3-0 with Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze on target for the Gunners. Sporting CP also defeated Lens 2-0 while Villarreal overcame Napoli 3-1.

In a mouthwatering seven-goal thriller, Club Brugge edged Inter 4-3, RB Leipzig beat PSV 1-0, and Sabah Baku defeated Slavia Prague 2-0.

There was plenty of drama and goals in Norway, where Bayern Munich were held to a 3-3 draw by Viking.
