Unresolved Payment Commitments Disrupted My UK Comedy Show—AY

Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian, has blamed unresolved payment commitments for the disruption of his Cardiff performance in the United Kingdom, which ended in disappointment for fans after much of the audience had left before the show began.

The incident occurred on Sunday during the Cardiff leg of his “AY Live: Single and Not Searching” tour at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff, Wales.

AY said he and fellow comedians arrived at the venue to perform but were unable to take the stage on time because of outstanding payment commitments, leaving many ticket holders waiting for a show that failed to meet their expectations.

In a statement posted on Instagram on Monday, the comedian apologised to fans, acknowledging that they should not have been caught up in a dispute between the parties responsible for organising the event.

“My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance. By the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left,” he said.

“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” he added.

The comedian’s apology comes amid growing concerns over the experience of ticket holders, many of whom reportedly complained on social media about prolonged waiting and confusion surrounding the event.

With the disruption raising questions about accountability and compensation, AY has called on the event organisers and UK tour management to provide a clear explanation of the situation and outline arrangements for affected customers.

“I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information,” he said.

AY also directed fans to a video in which he explained his account of the incident, promising to share verified updates through his official platforms.

As of Monday, the organisers had yet to publicly present their account of the disruption or announce a refund plan, leaving ticket holders awaiting further information on how the matter would be resolved.

Meanwhile, the incident comes as the comedian prepares to continue his UK tour, with Birmingham scheduled for October 30, London on October 31 and Manchester on November 1.

The disruption in Cardiff could raise concerns among fans planning to attend the remaining shows, particularly over event organisation and the fulfilment of commitments to ticket holders.

AY, who thanked fans for supporting his career for more than two decades, said he remained committed to maintaining their trust as efforts continued to address the fallout from the Cardiff performance.
