Qatar’s foreign ministry said mediators Qatar and Pakistan concluded separate meetings with US and Iranian negotiators in Doha with “positive progress” made on issues related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The two sides agreed to hold the next round of talks “at the earliest possible time” after the funeral ceremonies.
The latest discussions come as negotiators work through technical issues, including the implementation of the ceasefire framework and maritime security while key differences remain over sanctions relief, Iran’s nuclear programme and long-term regional security arrangements, according to Reuters.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump claimed easing geopolitical tensions were translating into lower energy costs.
“America has never been stronger than it is now, and Gas Prices will soon be back to the Record Low Prices Americans enjoyed at the pump before our very successful ‘excursion’ in Iran,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump also said oil prices were “plummeting FAST” and announced discounted fuel prices at select stations in Philadelphia ahead of America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations.
