A Nigerian TikToker has called out social media activist VeryDarkMan, urging him to be more measured in his criticism of singer B-Red and his wealth.
In a statement circulating on social media, the TikToker questioned why VeryDarkMan appeared to scrutinise B-Red’s wealth while, according to him, not applying the same standard to singer Burna Boy, who also spends money on expensive cars.
“VeryDarkMan needs to calm down. Na the same music B-Red na him Burna Boy dey sing. How many times have you dragged Burna for the expensive cars he’s buying?” he asked.
The TikToker went on to challenge VeryDarkMan’s approach to questioning people’s sources of wealth, arguing that the same scrutiny should be extended to people close to him.
“If you want to question people about their source of wealth, we will have to question your brother who owns an office in China. What did he do to open an office in China? How many people did he sell cars to before he could afford an office in China?” he stated.
He also questioned whether VeryDarkMan would maintain his current stance on financial accountability if he ventured into politics.
“If you enter politics today, swear say you o go chop money,” he added.
The comments have brought renewed attention to the debate over celebrities’ wealth, public accountability and the consistency with which social media personalities question how people make their money.
