The Moi Girls High School Vokoli fraternity is mourning the tragic death of one of its Form Four students, identified as Mitchel Afandi.

Mitchel passed away on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Vihiga.

The promising student reportedly collapsed in the school bathroom and was rushed to Sabatia Hospital for medical attention. Sadly, she succumbed while undergoing treatment.

Her death left many with questions about what had happened in the bathroom, leading to her collapse and eventual demise.

How did the Vokoli student die?

Herman Kimariki, who had been following the case, revealed that a post-mortem examination established the cause of her death.

The autopsy confirmed that the young girl died from a heart attack after being rushed to the hospital.

“Our Vokoli High School girl died due to a heart attack. An autopsy conducted at the Vihiga Referral Hospital mortuary has officially revealed that Mitchell suffered a fatal heart attack on Wednesday morning, June 17,” he said.

How did Vokoli students react to Mitchell’s death?

A viral video captured emotional scenes at Vokoli as teachers convened an assembly to break the heartbreaking news to students, many of whom could not contain their grief.

As one of the teachers made the painful announcement, students wailed and screamed in sorrow. Many openly mourned her, disrupting the assembly as the teacher continued his speech.

“We tried our best. We are sorry that we have lost her. So, I have come before you today as the bearer of very sad news that we have lost Mitchel Afandi. She was very strong and was with us,” said the teacher.

The educator noted that they had done everything possible to ensure the young girl survived the ordeal, but sadly, she did not make it.

“We thought she would make it even when we took her to the hospital, but sadly, we did not come back with her. We want to pray that the Almighty God will guide us and keep us strong,” he added as students continued to cry.

As her guardians grieved, they revealed that Mitchel was an orphan whose parents died within a short period of each other, making her death even more heartbreaking.

Many Kenyans mourned her online and sympathised with her relatives, sharing messages of comfort and condolence.

Nairobi Grade 9 student falls from third floor and dies

In other news, NGBREAKINGNEWS reported that Randy Mathenge, a Grade 9 student, passed away after falling from the third floor of a building within his school.

The administration of Lakewood Premier School claimed that he jumped to his death shortly after complaining of mental distress.

However, Randy’s parents dismissed the account, saying the boy had left home in high spirits and showed no signs of distress, contrary to the school’s claims.
