Villa Beat Liverpool 4-2 to Secure Champions League Place

Aston Villa have secured a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League after beating Liverpool 4-2 at Villa Park on Friday night, news.ng reports.

Morgan Rogers opened the scoring in the 42nd minute before halftime, while Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk levelled in the 52nd minute.

Unai Emery’s side were determined to get revenge after the two sides met last November, a match which saw Liverpool emerge victorious.

Ollie Watkins responded with a brace in the 57th and 73rd minutes to give his side the lead, making it 3-1. The lead was extended sixteen minutes later as John McGinn found the back of the net before Van Dijk pulled one back in the 90+2nd minute to make it 4-2 before the final whistle.

Villa are now fourth with 62 points, while Liverpool trails with 59 points.
