Iran has said it will not join the second round of talks with the Uniited States in Pakistan.
On Sunday, the Iranian state broadcaster, IRIB reported, based on information from Iranian sources, that “there are no current plans to take part in the next round of talks between Iran and the US.”
Earlier, the Fars and Tasnim news agencies mentioned that some sources said “the overall mood is not very positive,” and pointed out that removing the US blockade of Iranian ports is a key condition for any kind of negotiations.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has told US negotiators to go to Pakistan on Monday, just a few days before a ceasefire in the Middle East is supposed to end.
Iran decided not to continue talks and mentioned that “Washington’s demands are too much, their expectations are not realistic, they keep changing their stance, they often contradict themselves, and they maintain a naval blockade, which Iran sees as a violation of the ceasefire,” according to the official IRNA news agency.
Just hours prior to Iran’s announcement, Trump indicated that his negotiators would arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening.
A White House representative said the group will be led by Vice President JD Vance and will also have Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
