Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has explained why his administration does not spend heavily on commissioning government projects in the state.
Nwifuru gave the explanation after he was asked about the practice of commissioning projects, saying his administration prefers to channel available funds to other needs rather than spend heavily on publicity surrounding project inaugurations.
According to the governor:
“We are not spending much money to commission projects. We don’t have money to pay television houses and social media people to cover the commissioning of projects. We can use that money for other things.”
His comments have since generated reactions on social media, with some users questioning the number of projects commissioned by his administration and others raising concerns about the state government’s spending and media publicity.
Ebonyi State has a government-owned broadcasting organisation, the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC), which operates radio and television services.
