Fresh criticism has trailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration after Barrister Darlington questioned the handling of funds reportedly saved from the removal of fuel subsidy. In a viral video, he argued that despite earlier promises that the savings would be invested in hospitals, schools, roads, electricity and other critical infrastructure, Nigeria is still borrowing heavily while the national debt continues to rise.
According to him, Nigerians were assured that ending the fuel subsidy would free up resources for major developmental projects that would improve the country’s economy and quality of life. However, he claimed the country has continued to accumulate trillions of naira in debt, raising concerns over how the subsidy savings have been managed.
