Why Gov Adeleke and Accord Party have chosen Tinubu for 2027 presidential race

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and the national leadership of the Accord Party have endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, citing the need for continuity in key infrastructure projects across the country.

The development was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Adeleke re-election campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, who disclosed that the decision followed a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

According to Olajengbesi, discussions at the meeting focused on issues affecting the Accord Party as well as preparations for the forthcoming political activities in the state.

Why Adeleke, Accord Party adopted Tinubu

Olajengbesi said the party’s leadership agreed that the Tinubu administration should be allowed to complete major infrastructure projects already underway.

He explained that projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway were among the reasons the party resolved to support the President ahead of the 2027 general election.

The meeting also addressed the August governorship election in Osun, with party leaders warning against violence, voter intimidation, electoral manipulation and the alleged misuse of security agencies against Accord Party members.

Support grows ahead of Osun governorship election

Meanwhile, non-indigenous residents from southern states, as well as Benue and Plateau states living in Osun, also declared support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.

The residents reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and the continued development of Osun State, adding another layer of political backing as preparations for future elections gather momentum.
