The campaign team of Oyo State Senator Sharafadeen Alli has explained the circumstances surrounding a viral video showing a student sitting on the senator’s lap during an interview.
The video, which circulated widely online, had sparked questions from social media users who questioned why the student was seated on Alli’s lap during the interaction.
The controversy prompted the senator’s campaign team to clarify what led to the unusual seating arrangement.
According to the team, the students arrived at a time when the available seats were insufficient for everyone, prompting Alli to ask one of the students to sit on his lap so the interview could proceed.

Despite the explanation, some Nigerians continued to question the interaction shown in the video, particularly what they described as the senator’s physical contact with the student.
