“Why I can’t build with a man nor be a second or third wife” – Actor Kunle Afolayan’s daughter, Eyiyemi, reveals (Video)

Eyiyemi Afolayan, the daughter of Nollywood actor Eyiyemi, has spoken against polygamy.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba, she said she can’t marry a rich man and can’t be a second or third wife.

Eyiyemi revealed that she prefers to marry a póor man than a wealthy one. Explaining why, she said she believes wealth can sometimes make men disrespectful or unfaithful in relationships.

The daughter of Afolayan said she prefers a man who is financially modest because he would be less likely to look down on her or engage in infidelity. She, however, said she can’t marry a man who is completely dependent on her for survival. She stressed that any man she marries must be hardworking and have a legitimate source of income.

Eyiyemi made it clear that she isn’t the type to build with a man, noting how most men are ingrates. According to her, she can’t struggle to build wealth with a man from scratch because they forget such women when they get wealth.

“I can’t be a second or third wife to any man. I also can’t build with a man because some men are ingrates”, she said while speaking in Yoruba.

Last year, to celebrate his daughter’s 20th birthday, Kunle called her his child, rained prayers on her, and affirmed his love for her.

Also, last year, Kunle had taken pride in Eyiyemi, whom he called Princess Omowunmi. He noted that though she was still a work in progress, he was proud of her achievements so far.

Taking to his comment section, Eyiyemi appreciated her father for her upbringing.

In 2024, Kunle caused drama on the internet with his ‘inappropriate’ dance moves with his daughter, Eyiyemi, at the premiere of Anikulapo; The Rise of the Spectre.

Reacting to it, Kunle shared a video of him listening to Phyno’s song, ‘Do I’, indirectly meaning that he doesn’t care about the backlash. He declared that he was a King and the child of the most High, so his critics can only try.

His daughter, Eyiyemi Afolayan who was unbothered, re-echoed his words.

The award-winning filmmaker had explained why he casted his daughter, for the role of Princess Omowunmi in, Anikulapo. He said the role required somebody beautiful and his daughter is definitely beautiful. He added that the youngster is also a good singer as well as a natural at acting.

Eyiyemi is Kunle Afolayan’s first child and she made her debut appearance as an actor on the set of Anikulapo.
