Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has revealed how her husband and industry colleague, Kolawole Ajeyemi, influenced her decision to quit smoking cigarettes, describing him as one of the best things that has ever happened to her.
The actress made the revelation during her recent appearance on The Morayo Show.
According to her, Ajeyemi gave her a firm warning after she became pregnant, making it clear that smoking cigarettes would not be tolerated around their child.
“Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He lets me be me. I used to smoke cigarettes. I still smoke vape once in a while. But I stopped smoking cigarettes,” she said.
Recounting the turning point, Abraham said her husband first asked her to stop smoking during her pregnancy.
After their son was born, he saw her smoking during an outing but waited until later to address the issue.
“He told me that he did not say I should not smoke cigarettes, but he must not see the butt with his child. He warned that anytime he sees such, that would be the end of the marriage,” she recalled.
The award-winning actress said the warning changed her perspective and ultimately led her to give up cigarettes, although she admitted she still vapes occasionally.
Abraham, who married Ajeyemi in 2019, also dismissed suggestions that her husband is uncomfortable with her acting career, including romantic scenes on screen.
“About kissing in movies, my husband is mature. He is not a boy. He is a man. Most of my colleagues’ wives are comfortable with me. I can do every other thing. But promiscuity is not one of them.
“God has blessed me with a platform now; I do not have to kiss anybody like years past,” she added.
