The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Executive Council has approved the award of a N5.7bn contract for the construction of a 33 KVA power supply line from Dawaki to Tukulo and adjoining communities in Bwari Area Council.
Mr Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, Coordinator, FCT Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), disclosed this on Tuesday after the FCTA Executive Council meeting chaired by the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, in Abuja.
Zulkiflu said the contract was awarded to CGC Nigeria Ltd., with an eight-month completion period, adding that the project was designed to improve electricity supply and accelerate infrastructure development in the affected communities.
He explained that the electrification project was part of the administration’s efforts to accelerate infrastructure delivery in rural communities and improve living standards in satellite towns across the FCT.
“Satellite towns have been undergoing rapid changes recently under this administration—from water supply infrastructure to road construction and streetlights,” he said.
The coordinator added that the power project would complement other infrastructure projects being executed by the administration to ensure that satellite communities receive improved basic amenities.
“This power project will complement existing projects on the ground to ensure these communities are properly upgraded,” Zulkiflu said.
He further disclosed that the council had formally ratified two major rural infrastructure contracts worth more than N17.1 billion, which were awarded in 2024, completed and inaugurated in 2025.
According to him, the ratified projects comprised the Gaba–Tukulo Road in Bwari Area Council, constructed by Setraco at N8.2 billion, and the rehabilitation of Paikon Kore–Ibuwa Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, also executed by Setraco at N8.89 billion.
Zulkiflu reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustained infrastructure expansion across all area councils of the FCT.
