The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Dr Jamilu Gwamna to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, reports thegazellenews.com
Gwamna’s formal introduction to the President is seen as a significant step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe state, as the ruling party moves to retain control of the state after Yahaya completes his tenure.
The Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, who confirmed the development through a statement issued on Sunday, 21 June, 2026, the presentation came shortly after Gwamna emerged as the APC candidate following what the party described as an overwhelming victory in its governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.
President Tinubu congratulated Gwamna on his emergence and commended Yahaya for what he described as exemplary leadership and efforts in strengthening the APC in Gombe State, just as he also expressed confidence in the APC’s leadership in the state and its ability to sustain its developmental strides.
Yahaya, speaking during the meeting commended, Tinubu for providing “purposeful leadership that continues to strengthen unity, cohesion and progressive governance across the country.”
While thanking the President for his support to Gombe State, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, economic growth and policies aimed at promoting sustainable development, the Governor said the presentation of Gwamna to the President underscored the party’s resolve to preserve unity and ensure continuity in governance.
