A Nigerian lady has shared her friend’s reaction after she allegedly called her husband by his first name when they went to pick him up from the airport.
The story was shared on X by @kenkenlewu, who said her friend had always addressed her husband by his first name despite her objection.
‘We Are All Age Mates Nah’
The lady said she had previously told her friend that she did not like the way she addressed her husband.
However, her friend reportedly defended herself by asking why she should call him “sir” when they were all age mates.
“In her defense, she said mockingly, ‘We are all age mates nah. Should I be calling him ‘sir?’” the woman wrote.
The situation reportedly took a different turn after her friend’s husband returned from the UK.
‘Sit at the Back’
She said her friend’s husband asked her to accompany his wife to the airport to pick him up.
When they arrived, the man opened the front door of the car and sat down.
The woman then asked him to move to the back seat so his wife could sit in front.
“Chaizor, sit at the back. Let your wife sit in front,” she recalled saying.
She said the man looked at her before looking at his wife, after which he moved to the back seat.
The woman subsequently drove the couple to their home.
‘He Is Very Angry With You’
Later that evening, the woman said she received a WhatsApp message from her friend concerning what happened at the airport.
“Babes, you could have simply said ‘Mr. Chaizor.’ He is very angry with you. When next you see him, try and apologize,” the message read.
The post has since sparked reactions on X, with users sharing different opinions about addressing a friend’s spouse by their first name and the etiquette expected when interacting with another person’s partner.
