‘You de gamble with your life keh’- Passenger Criticized for Recording Instead of Waking Sleeping Driver Before Crash

A passenger has sparked widespread outrage after recording a commercial bus driver allegedly dozing off behind the wheel instead of alerting him or other passengers, moments before the vehicle crashed on a Nigerian highway.

The viral video, reportedly recorded at about 10:12 a.m., shows the driver with his eyes closed and head repeatedly nodding as the bus swerved along the road before eventually crashing. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

The incident has ignited debate on social media, with many criticizing the passenger for choosing to film the dangerous situation rather than trying to prevent a possible tragedy. Others, however, argued that the footage could serve as evidence of the driver’s negligence.

Some reactions below:

@DaMEaZi: “One mistake and the next scene will be at Heaven’s Gate, he should continue capturing…”

@goodgirltolani: “I’m still in denial. I no believe say na real. I’m thinking it’s cut and join video coz whattttrtrr????????????”

@SpeedLensGuy: “A very moronic behaviour from a supposed adult.”

@ImhenrionM48606: “It’s an irresponsible behaviour. Why not wake up the driver and ask him to take a rest before proceeding again?”

@joshua_otce: “Lack of law in the country 😕”

@Aretetolife_03: “I had this same experience some years ago. The driver started sleeping after driving for less than 30 minutes and we were travelling. I had to tell those who sat beside him to engage him in a conversation till we get to our destination. Anything could happen.”

@InvisibleManVic: “The obsession of this generation with contentification is terrible. Even at the risk of death, you are still looking for content.”

@marianoreeledit: “Big big shame. Everything is content. Making content while your life was at stake.”
