“You Don’t Keep Burial Clothes”- Angela Okorie Opens Up On Burning Dress She Wore To Alex Ekubo’s Funeral

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has generated conversation on social media after disclosing that she destroyed the outfit she wore to the funeral of late actor Alex Ekubo.

The actress made the revelation through a post on her Instagram Stories, where she explained that the decision was based on advice she received from her Godmother.

According to Angela, her Godmother told her that clothes worn to burial ceremonies should not be kept but instead disposed of by burning them. Following the advice, the actress said she decided to get rid of the outfit she wore to Alex Ekubo’s funeral.

“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to have the cloth you wore to a burial around you; you burn them,” she wrote.

Angela also posted a video capturing the moment the outfit was set on fire. She explained that the practice was something she had only recently learned and felt compelled to share with those around her.

Encouraging her followers, friends and family members to take note of the advice, the actress offered prayers for God’s protection and longevity.

“So family and friends take note. I felt I should share this information. May the Lord keep and bless us with long life. Amen. Chai,” she added.

Her post quickly attracted mixed reactions online. While some users supported the tradition and recounted similar beliefs in their families, others questioned the need to make the information public.
