The Zamfara State Government has approved a 95 per cent salary increase for health workers across the state, as part of efforts to improve workers’ welfare and strengthen healthcare delivery.
The approval, granted by Governor Dauda Lawal, adopts the Federal Government’s Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for affected health personnel.
The development follows an earlier salary adjustment by the state government aimed at bringing the remuneration of medical personnel in Zamfara in line with that of their counterparts in federal service.
Under the new arrangement, a health worker currently earning ₦100,000 will now receive ₦195,000, while an employee earning ₦200,000 will earn ₦390,000.
Similarly, a worker earning ₦300,000 will now receive ₦585,000, while those currently earning ₦500,000 and ₦1 million will receive ₦975,000 and ₦1.95 million, respectively.
The 95 per cent adjustment effectively brings the salaries of affected workers close to double their previous earnings.
The state government said the measure is expected to improve staff morale, attract and retain qualified medical professionals and ultimately enhance the quality of healthcare services available to residents.
The approval also comes shortly after the government recruited additional health workers, who are expected to benefit from the new salary structure.
Health workers across the state have expressed appreciation to the governor, describing the salary adjustment as a significant boost to the health sector.
Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare while ensuring the provision of quality and accessible healthcare services to the people of Zamfara State.
