Zamfara Govt debunks claims over salary delay

The Zamfara State Government has dismissed rumours suggesting that the delay in salary payment to workers is linked to political developments or a possible defection of Governor Dauda Lawal to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, the government said the salary delay is not unique to Zamfara State but part of a broader nationwide financial and banking challenge.

The statement explained that the state government is in active engagement with relevant authorities at the central level to resolve the issue and ensure prompt payment of outstanding salaries.

“The government categorically refutes any claims or rumours suggesting that the salary delay is connected to any political developments, including speculations about the defection of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, to the All Progressives Congress, APC,” the statement read.

It described the claims as unfounded and urged the public to disregard them.

The government appealed to civil servants and residents to remain calm and patient, assuring that workers’ welfare remains a top priority and that efforts are ongoing to clear all outstanding payments.

It also urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely only on official communication channels for accurate updates.
