The Forum of Zamfara State Tertiary Institutions, FOZASTI, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the state government to address outstanding demands by workers or face possible industrial action.
The forum issued the ultimatum in a statement signed by its Chairman, Yusuf Magaji Mada, in Gusau on Friday.
FOZASTI said the decision followed consultations over unresolved issues affecting workers in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Among its demands are the implementation of the CONPCASS and CONTEDISS salary scales for relevant categories of staff.
The forum also demanded the payment and implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) for eligible academic staff.
It further called for the implementation of staff promotions across eligible grade levels and the resolution of outstanding promotion-related matters.
FOZASTI said the two-week ultimatum took effect from the date of the statement and urged the government to take concrete and verifiable steps towards resolving the issues.
It warned that failure to address the demands at the expiration of the ultimatum could lead to industrial action in accordance with applicable labour laws and procedures.
The forum, however, said it remained open to dialogue with the state government during the two-week period.
