The initiative, championed by Group Managing Director Adaora Umeoji, aims to inspire girls through education, mentorship, skills development and leadership opportunities.
Zenith Bank Plc is set to launch the maiden edition of its Girl-Child Empowerment Programme, an initiative designed to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams, build confidence and acquire the skills needed to succeed in their chosen careers.
The programme, themed “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” will hold virtually on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., a day after the globally observed International Day of the Girl Child.
The initiative is the brainchild of the bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, the first female to occupy the position in Zenith Bank’s history and an advocate for girl-child education and empowerment.
According to the bank, the programme will bring together distinguished experts from various fields to provide participants with practical insights, inspiration and guidance on education, career development and leadership.
It is also designed to expose girls to opportunities in skills acquisition, mentorship and personal development, while encouraging them to recognise their potential, broaden their aspirations and make informed decisions about their futures.
Zenith Bank said the initiative would become an annual platform for supporting girls at different stages of their development and preparing them for meaningful opportunities in society.
The programme builds on the bank’s existing women- and girl-focused initiatives, including its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.
Other interventions include the Z-Woman initiative, which supports women-owned and women-led businesses through specialised funding, capacity building and networking opportunities.
The bank said these initiatives reflect its broader commitment to empowering women and girls and contributing to national development.
The maiden edition of “Banking On Her Tomorrow” is open to the public, with girls, parents, educators and other interested participants invited to attend.
Interested participants can register through the registration link provided by Zenith Bank. Those unable to join the virtual event via Zoom can watch the livestream on the bank’s social media platforms.
