Zulum Swears In Two Commissioners, Judicial Commission Member — Warns Against Mediocrity

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has sworn in two newly appointed commissioners and a member of the State Judicial Service Commission, urging them to uphold high standards and avoid complacency in service.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Government House, Maiduguri, with the Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, administering the oaths of office and allegiance.

The new appointees are Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as Commissioners, and Alhaji Abba Sadiq as a member of the Judicial Service Commission.

In his address, Governor Zulum emphasized that their appointments reflect the administration’s trust in their expertise and dedication to the state’s development.

“Your appointments to the State Executive Council are a testament to your exceptional capabilities and the immense value we place on your expertise. With this honour comes a profound responsibility to deliver on our promises to the good people of Borno State,” Zulum said.

He charged the appointees to bring innovation, collaboration, and efficiency into governance, warning that “mediocrity or low-quality output will not be tolerated.”

The governor stressed that their work must align with the state’s 25-Year Development Plan and 10-Year Strategic Transformation Initiative, noting that performance would be monitored through measurable benchmarks. He assured them of the government’s full backing, including resources and operational support.

Zulum also commended the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, and the Chief Judge for their synergy with the executive arm, which he said has strengthened democratic governance in the state.

Earlier, Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Bukar Tijani, spoke on the administration’s achievements and reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to progress.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, Engr. Mohammed Habib expressed gratitude to the governor and pledged their dedication to the state’s transformation agenda.
