Alhaji Mustafa Sule-Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the next general election.
The Returning Officer of the primary election, Mr Isa Ahmed, announced his victory on Sunday, noting that Sule-Lamido was the sole aspirant in the contest.
He explained that his emergence was in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
In his acceptance speech, Sule-Lamido expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in him.
He said the development was not new to him, recalling that in 2023, the party had also entrusted him with a similar responsibility.
He added that the campaign ahead would be driven by unity, hope, reform, and a renewed promise for a better Jigawa State.
“Though we did not secure victory then, we earned the confidence of hundreds of thousands of our people and laid a strong foundation,” he said.
