Adamawa Police Arrest Two Suspected Gunrunners, Recover Locally Made Gun

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected gunrunners and recovered a locally fabricated Dane gun from them during an intelligence-led operation in Gombe State.

The suspects, identified as 54-year-old Commander Barde of Zakawon Village, Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and 51-year-old Abdullahi Musa of Ga’anda, Gombi LGA, were arrested on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, operatives of the State Intelligence Department acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspects at Cham, via Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State, while allegedly transacting illegal firearms.

The police said one locally fabricated Dane gun was recovered from the suspects as an exhibit.

Preliminary investigations, according to the command, indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in the illegal dealing of firearms.

The suspects also reportedly confessed during interrogation that the transaction intercepted by the police was not their first.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the operatives for the operation and directed investigators to intensify efforts to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly connected to the illicit arms trade.

The police said the investigation would be conducted discreetly as authorities work to trace the wider network behind the alleged illegal firearms business.
