Ralph Nwosu, the immediate past National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reacted to the ongoing legal tussle rocking the leadership of the party, condemning the action taken by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in withdrawing recognition of the David Mark-led executive of the party, news.ng reports.
In an appearance on Channels Television on Thursday morning, the former chairman of the party, while condemning the action of INEC, rubbished the emergence of the Nafiu Bala-led faction, questioning the legality of the group. He claimed that the story was fabricated to create division within the party.
“We talk about Nafiu Bala as a faction. How can an individual be a faction?” he said.
“Having said that, the INEC interpretation is wrong, and the appeal court is wrong. And they’re all inspired by the Jagaban of Nigerian politics… But we’re going to resist it,” Nwosu declared.
According to the former chairman of the party, the current political machinations within the ADC were created by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He compared what is going on in national politics to developments in Lagos State, where an individual he identified as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has controlled the political affairs of Lagos since 2019.
“These are plots of the APC. What is playing out is this: since 2019, one individual seized the politics of Lagos and continuously collapsed all the parties in Lagos to sing the APC song. When he became the president, he thought he can do the same thing as far as Nigeria is concerned. And that is what we have, Nigerians are resisting,” he stated.
He stressed that the crisis the ADC is facing is beyond personal or party interests and concerns the nation.
“It’s not about me, Ralph Nwosu, it’s not about ADC, but Nigerians. We have provided Nigerians and the patriots a clear vehicle to be able to resist this monstrous force. That’s what is going on. We didn’t expect it to be easy,” he said.
