Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has explained why he substituted Samuel Chukwueze during his side’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier 2-1 win against Madagascar on Friday.
Chelle opted to replace Chukwueze with LASK forward Moses Usor, who scored the winning goal for Nigeria against Madagascar.
Speaking to reporters after the game, the Malian said he substituted the AC Milan star for tactical reasons.
“It was a tactical decision because, as you know, he finished the first half well.
“So I felt he was a little bit tired, and I wanted to bring some energy into the team,” he said.
Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday in their next match.
