Akwa Ibom Raises Student Bursary to ₦50,000 in ₦1.3bn Boost

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has approved the release of ₦1.3 billion for the payment of bursaries to eligible students across the state, alongside an increase in the bursary award from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 per beneficiary.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, who said the approval is aimed at easing the financial burden on students while expanding access to higher education and strengthening human capital development in the state.

The statement described the intervention as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to easing the financial burden on students, expanding access to quality education, and investing in the future of Akwa Ibom’s young people.

It added that the initiative covers the release of ₦1.3 billion for bursary payments, the increase in the bursary award, and support for eligible students across the state.

The state government described the move as a bold investment in human capital development and reaffirmed its commitment to creating greater opportunities for young people through education.
