An albino buffalo nicknamed ‘Donald Trump’ is set to be slaughtered in Bangladesh despite being a huge star on social media. The 1,500lb bull, with a blond comb-over become a star and received a constant stream of curious visitors.

Zia Uddin Mridha, 38, the buffalo’s owner, said his brother chose to name the animal after Mr Trump because of its distinctive, eye‑catching hair. He added that throughout May, crowds of visitors travelled to his farm in Narayanganj, near Dhaka, to see the buffalo for themselves.

The buffalo will be slaughtered, alongside about 12 million livestock, as Bangladesh prepares for the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha later this month.

One fan, arriving with five friends and relatives said: “Truly, the features are similar between the buffalo and President Donald Trump. My nephew took a one-hour boat journey to see Donald Trump.”
