The President General of the Orashi National Congress, ONC, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, over the signing of the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law. He also commended the Rivers State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Amb. Ibe described the budget as a clear roadmap for delivering more dividends of democracy to Rivers people in the new fiscal year.

At ONC, we are excited that the 2026 Appropriation Bill, titled “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” has been officially signed into law by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,” he said.

The ONC President General noted that the theme of the budget reflects the administration’s determination to sustain development despite economic and security challenges facing the state and the Niger Delta region.

Amb. Ibe also applauded members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for their patriotism and prompt action on the bill.

“We must not fail to commend the Honourable members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for the consideration and speedy passage of the bill. Just days ago, we made a passionate appeal to the Honourable members seeking speedy passage of the bill and today our joy is full with the signing by our amiable Governor,” he stated.

He said the timely passage and assent will enable Ministries, Departments and Agencies to commence implementation early, thereby accelerating projects and programs across the 23 Local Government Areas.

The ONC leader expressed optimism that with the budget now in force, government activities that directly affect the wellbeing of Rivers people will be ramped up immediately.

“We expect with the passage that activities that affect the wellbeing of Rivers people will be revved up immediately for the betterment of our people,” Amb. Ibe said.

He urged the Governor to ensure strict implementation, transparency and accountability in the execution of projects captured in the budget, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and youth empowerment.

Amb. Ibe further called on the Fubara administration to prioritize projects that will have direct impact on rural communities, including Orashi-speaking areas, to ensure inclusive growth across the state.

He reaffirmed ONC’s commitment to partner with government to promote peace, development and good governance in Rivers State.

“Rivers people are resilient. With this Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development, we believe the government will consolidate on ongoing projects, complete abandoned ones, and initiate new interventions that will make life better for our people,” he added.
