Appeal Court ruling: PDP crisis now over – Pearse

A member Board of Governors, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, has stated that the party is now free from the stronghold of the Nyesom Wike faction.

DAILY POST reported that the Appeal Court in its ruling over the weekend effectively nullified the basis upon which the Federal High Court recognised the caretaker committee linked to the Abdurahman Mohammed faction of the PDP.

The Court of Appeal faulted Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court in Ibadan for granting reliefs that were not sought by any of the parties in a dispute involving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking on Arise News, Pearse insisted that there is only one PDP which is the one registered in 2008, adding that the court has spoken in so many ways at different times, making it clear that the position of the Anyanwu group has been null and void since the first of November 2025 when they were suspended and eventually expelled from the party.

“That was the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment of April last year and we went to court to say that Anyanwu and co have been nullified.

“They appealed this judgment, and judgment came out yesterday and said that finally, the Anyanwu faction, since the November 1 2025 has been null and void, and that the Turaki group is the legitimate PDP.

“There are no factions in the party anymore. This faction was a creation of the imagination, the frequent of imagination of Wike and Co. The courts have said that again and again. You remember judgments that nullified our convention? The 15th and 16th November 2025 convention in Ibadan? But there were other judgments that came on that same judgment. That issue said our convention was nullified, so also was the legitimacy of the faction led by Anyanwu.

“They refused to accept that they have been nullified. They wanted to accept that our convention was not acceptable. So this is where we are, and this is what has been going on for ages, this appeal came out and has settled the issue.

“There is only one party, and mark my word. You know sometimes a madman will tell you the truth. Wike has said that the PDP is one, and yes, it is one. Since this appeal, it has showed that the only party, the one party that is PDP, is the one led by Dr Turaki.”
