ASCATIC Calls For Greater Alumni Support For Educational Development

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abia State Council of Alumni of Tertiary Institutions and Colleges (ASCATIC), Nwokoma Agomoh, has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti for constituting a five-man committee to coordinate the completion of ongoing projects and address critical infrastructure needs at Ngwa High School, Abayi, Aba.

Agomoh also praised the governor for reaffirming his administration’s commitment to educational development and supporting the completion of the school’s Rev. Pollard Resource Centre.

The ASCATIC chairman also commended the Old Boys Association for investing over ₦50 million in the construction of the Rev. Pollard Resource Centre, designed to accommodate an electronic library, ICT hub, computer-based test centre and career counselling unit.

Agomoh described the interventions as a demonstration of the importance of collaboration between government, alumni associations and other stakeholders in improving educational institutions.

He called for greater involvement of alumni associations in improving educational infrastructure and learning conditions across Abia State.

He urged graduates of universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other institutions to support the development of their former schools, describing alumni contributions as an important way of strengthening the education sector and creating better opportunities for future generations.

Agomoh noted that alumni associations could contribute significantly to educational advancement through investments in infrastructure, learning facilities and initiatives that support students’ academic development.

He further urged former students to identify the needs of their alma maters and make meaningful contributions towards addressing them, rather than allow institutions that helped shape their lives to deteriorate.

He reaffirmed ASCATIC’s commitment to promoting alumni participation and partnerships that would support the sustainable development of educational institutions across Abia State.
