Atiku Campaign: More appointments coming, no one is forgotten — Shaibu

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council has said it will announce additional appointments and unveil more layers of its campaign structure as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

The campaign council said the recently released list of appointments was only an initial phase of the process and should not be regarded as the final composition of the presidential campaign team.

In a statement on Saturday, the Director of Strategic Communication of the council, Phrank Shaibu, said consultations were still ongoing and that more responsibilities would be assigned as the campaign structure expanded across the country.

Shaibu urged supporters and party members whose names were not included in the initial list to remain patient, assuring them that their contributions and loyalty had not been overlooked.

“The campaign is still evolving. Consultations are continuing, and further responsibilities will be assigned as the structure expands across the country.

“His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, remains deeply conscious of the sacrifices made by those who have stood with him over the years. Loyalty is remembered. Sacrifice is respected. Friendship is valued.

“To those who may feel disappointed that their names have not appeared yet, we ask for patience and understanding. No one should believe that years of commitment and sacrifice have been forgotten,” he said.

According to him, the campaign would continue to rely on its existing network of loyal party members, political leaders, professionals, young Nigerians and other citizens willing to contribute to its activities.

He said the campaign would soon announce its zonal and state structures, as well as additional senior appointments and other organisational layers reaching wards and polling units across the country.

Shaibu said the expansion was part of efforts to build a nationwide campaign structure capable of engaging Nigerians at the grassroots and mobilising support across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

He also disclosed that the campaign was strengthening its policy architecture by assembling professionals and experts with experience in various sectors of the economy and public life.

He listed the areas to include the cost of living, food security and agriculture, security, energy and power, job creation and industrialisation, manufacturing and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Others, he said, were education, healthcare, infrastructure, housing, public finance, governance, technology and innovation, social protection, natural resources, the environment and human capital development.

“Nigeria’s challenges are interconnected and cannot be addressed in isolation,” Shaibu said.

He said the objective was to ensure that each major national challenge was matched with what he described as a serious, practical and implementable policy response capable of improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

According to him, the campaign’s policy framework would draw on Nigerians with proven competence, professional experience and global exposure.

He said the approach was intended to move beyond political mobilisation by developing concrete policy responses to the economic and social challenges facing the country.

Shaibu described the campaign as a “people-driven national campaign”, saying its structure would continue to expand by bringing in Nigerians who share its objectives.

“This is a people-driven national campaign. It will continue to grow organically, drawing strength from Nigerians who share the desire to build a country where life is more affordable, businesses can thrive, young people can find opportunity and families can once again look to the future with confidence.

“There is room in this journey for every sincere hand willing to serve,” he said.
