“Baba Is Too Weak To Come Out” -Isaac Fayose Says President Is Too Weak To Campaign While Opposition Faces Restrictions

Businessman Isaac Fayose has criticised the political atmosphere ahead of the 2027 presidential election, questioning President Bola Tinubu’s campaign activities while alleging that other candidates are facing restrictions.

Fayose raised the concerns in a post highlighting what he described as an imbalance in campaign activities, arguing that Tinubu’s perceived absence from public campaigning contrasts with the difficulties allegedly faced by opposition candidates.

His remarks have generated reactions online, particularly over claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken over campaign spaces in parts of the country.

Some social media users suggested that opposition parties should make greater use of digital platforms to reach voters, while others compared Nigeria’s political situation to countries where opposition candidates have faced restrictions.

INEC’s revised timetable lists January 16, 2027, as the date for the presidential and National Assembly elections. The commission also set August 19, 2026, as the commencement date for presidential campaign activities.
