Nigerian entertainer Tope Adenibuyan, better known as Teddy A, has opened up about what happened in his relationship with his wife, Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi, before he proposed to her.
Teddy A made the revelation during a recent interview where he and Bambam spoke about their relationship and marriage.
The couple also addressed speculation that their decision to get married was influenced by Bambam’s first pregnancy. According to them, their marriage was based on love rather than pressure from the pregnancy.
Bambam explained that she would not have been able to force Teddy A into marrying her if he did not genuinely want to be with her.
“Even about the pregnancy that people were talking about, saying that it was because of the pregnancy he married me. If Teddy did not want to marry me, there was nothing I was going to do about it,” she said.
Teddy A, while recounting the period, disclosed that he and Bambam were not speaking for about two weeks before he proposed because they were having issues.
He said finding out that she was pregnant made him view the situation differently and see it as a sign that he needed to take responsibility for their relationship and unborn child.
“Do you understand that before I proposed to my wife, we were not talking for two weeks. We were fighting. Then when she told me she was pregnant, I felt that it was a sign. If you don’t want this woman, you don’t have to be with her. Now that she is pregnant, what do you want to do? Do you want to be responsible and man up,” he said.
Teddy A and Bambam, who met during the 2018 edition of Big Brother Naija, got married in a traditional ceremony in Ogun State on September 7, 2019. They later held their white wedding in Dubai on November 16 of the same year.
The couple are now parents to two children.
Bambam had also revealed in a 2020 interview that she experienced complications during the birth of her first child and later struggled with postpartum depression.
