A wave of emotion and outrage has swept across Nigeria after top music stars called on the federal government to urgently act following the brutal kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

The heartbreaking incident reportedly involved pupils and staff from Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School (Esiele) in Oriire Local Government Area, where 39 students and seven teachers were abducted, while two teachers were tragically killed, triggering nationwide anger and grief.

Reacting to the tragedy, Afrobeats star Davido expressed deep sorrow over the incident, writing emotionally on Snapchat: “I’m weak. God pls take control. We can’t continue like this… my heart goes out to the victims and families.” His message quickly went viral as fans echoed his frustration and pain.

Singer Victony also joined the growing call for urgent action, urging President Bola Tinubu to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity and ensure the safe rescue of all kidnapped victims, especially innocent schoolchildren.

In a similar strong stance, veteran artist Timaya released a statement calling for immediate and coordinated government action, stressing that the rising insecurity in parts of the country can no longer be ignored or delayed.

According to him, there must be “greater urgency, collaboration, and decisive action” to confront the growing security crisis affecting many communities.

The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with Nigerians demanding swift rescue efforts, justice for victims, and stronger protection for schools and vulnerable communities.
