According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on July 25, 2026, Xabi Alonso could face an unwanted transfer situation at Chelsea after Pedro Neto was reportedly offered to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal by his agent Jorge Mendes.
Neto returned to Chelsea following Portugal’s 2026 World Cup campaign with his future becoming a subject of speculation. The winger remains part of Alonso’s plans, but competition for places in the attacking positions has increased significantly ahead of the new Premier League season.
Chelsea currently have several options capable of playing on the right side of attack, including Estevao Willian and Geovany Quenda. Their presence could create a more competitive environment for Neto, who may have to fight for a guaranteed starting position under the new head coach.
Despite the speculation, Chelsea have no intention of actively selling Neto this summer. However, the club are understood to be willing to consider a serious offer if one arrives, as they have adopted a similar approach with several members of their squad.
According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, Neto has been offered to Al Hilal by Mendes, who is reportedly exploring potential opportunities in Saudi Arabia for the Portuguese winger. The move could create complications for Alonso, who is still assessing his squad and preparing his attacking plans for the upcoming campaign.
The possibility of Neto leaving would force Chelsea to reconsider their options on the right wing. Although the Blues have attacking depth, losing a player of Neto’s quality would leave Alonso without one of his most experienced wide players.
The Saudi Pro League has already attracted several high-profile names this summer, with Al Hilal showing their financial power by completing major deals. Their ability to offer lucrative contracts means they cannot be ruled out if they decide to make an official approach for Neto.
Chelsea and Al Hilal have previously conducted business, with Kalidou Koulibaly making a £17 million move to the Saudi club in 2023 after one season at Stamford Bridge. Al Hilal also attempted to sign Romelu Lukaku during the same period, although the striker rejected the opportunity.
While Chelsea are not pushing Neto towards an exit, the involvement of Mendes adds uncertainty to the winger’s future. Alonso will hope the situation is resolved quickly as he looks to build stability within his squad before the new season begins.
