COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE INAUGURAL ZONAL EXECUTIVE MEETING HELD ON APRIL 22, 2026 , AT THE APC SOUTH EAST ZONAL SECRETARIAT, ENUGU
The South East Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held its inaugural meeting on April 22, 2026, at the Zonal Secretariat in Enugu under the chairmanship of the National Vice Chairman, South East Zone, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu. The meeting reviewed the state of the party in the zone and deliberated on strategies to strengthen party unity and position the APC for victory in the 2027 general elections.
After extensive deliberations, the Zonal Executive Committee resolved as follows:
1. Endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for 2027
The South East Zonal Executive Committee hereby declares its full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections and commits to mobilizing the zone towards his resounding victory.
2. Unity in Campaign Messaging
The Committee resolved that all APC candidates in the South East Zone shall prominently feature the image of President Bola Tinubu on their campaign materials throughout the campaign period to reflect party cohesion and collective commitment to the party’s success.
3. Support for APC Governorship Candidates
The Committee resolved to give full and unwavering support to all APC governorship candidates in the South East Zone to ensure their emergence and victory in their respective states.
4. Consolidated State Campaign Identity
The Committee further resolved that all APC candidates in the South East shall also feature the image of their state’s APC governorship candidate on their campaign materials to promote unity and shared electoral success across all levels.
5. Engagement with Zonal Governors
The Zonal Executive shall formally write to the three APC governors in the South East to distance the zone from the recent disparaging remarks made by Barr. Ben Nwoye against party leaders in the zone. The letter shall also convey the zone’s appreciation to the governors for their role in ensuring a peaceful and harmonized Zonal Congress.
6. Correspondence to Barr. Ben Nwoye
The Zone has resolved to write to Barr. Ben Nwoye, requesting that he rescind his public statements and issue an unreserved apology to the three APC governors in the South East Zone, and to refrain from such actions forthwith.
7. Establishment of Primary Election Harmonization Committee
The Committee resolved to establish the APC South East Primary Election Harmonization Committee. The Committee shall be tasked with ensuring peaceful, transparent, and coordinated primary elections across the zone to produce credible APC candidates for the 2027 general elections.
8. Recognition of Zonal Leadership
The Zonal Executive affirms its continued commitment to work in line with party directives and hereby reiterates that His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, is recognized as the leader of the All Progressives Congress in the South East Zone.
The South East Zonal Executive Committee reaffirms its commitment to party unity, discipline, and loyalty. The Committee calls on all party members and stakeholders in the zone to work together in peace and harmony towards building a stronger APC and securing electoral victory in 2027.
