The colours, sounds, and traditions of Nigeria came alive as Daily-Need Group hosted its fifth annual Cultural Day celebration.
It brought employees together for a memorable experience filled with music, dance, fashion, laughter, and a strong sense of belonging.
With the theme: “Culture as Power,” this year’s celebration was more than just a display of traditional outfits and performances.
It was a reminder that Nigeria’s strength lies in its many cultures and the ability of people from different backgrounds to come together as one.
The event began with prayers and the singing of the National Anthem, setting the tone for a celebration centred on unity, respect, and national pride.
Employees from different departments came together to represent four major cultural groups: South South, South East, South West, and the Middle Belt.
The atmosphere quickly transformed as cultural performances took centre stage.
Employees proudly showcased their heritage through traditional dances, colourful attire, and energetic displays that reflected the beauty and uniqueness of each region. The cultural parade created a powerful visual representation of Nigeria’s diversity, with each group bringing its own identity, history, and traditions to life.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the fashion walk, where employees confidently displayed traditional outfits representing their various cultures.
The event also featured drama presentations and dance performances that entertained the audience while celebrating the stories and values behind Nigerian traditions.
Beyond the performances, the cultural day served as an opportunity for employees across different departments to connect beyond the workplace.
It encouraged bonding between colleagues, allowing production teams to interact with head office staff and strengthening the relationship between people who may not always work closely together.
Delivering his remarks at the event, the Managing Director of Daily-Need Group, Oluwatosin Olajide Jolayemi, expressed his excitement and appreciation for the celebration.
Jolayemi described the event as a moment of joy and pride, noting that seeing employees embrace their different cultures was a powerful reminder of Nigeria’s diversity.
“It’s always a thing of joy to see us in our different diversity, activating our culture from the north to the south, from the east to the west,” he said.
He praised the effort and creativity displayed by employees, joking that some of the participants looked so different in their cultural presentations that he had to question if they were truly members of staff.
He emphasised that the celebration was built around the belief that “our unity is in our diversity,” explaining that Daily-Need Group created the event to celebrate Nigerian culture, resilience, and the uniqueness that each community brings.
According to him, understanding and respecting different cultures is important in building stronger relationships among employees and creating a workplace where everyone feels valued.
He encouraged employees to continue appreciating one another’s backgrounds, saying that when people from different regions respect each other’s cultures, they become one big family working together toward a common goal.
The competition eventually ended with South East emerging as the winner, followed by the South West in second place, Middle Belt in the third place, and the South South finishing fourth.
However, the true victory of the day was the unity, friendship, and shared pride experienced by everyone who participated.
