Davido Reacts After Gunmen Attack Accord Party Chairman in Osogbo

Singer Davido has reacted to reports of the shooting of the Accord Party chairman in Osogbo Local Government Area, Asimiyu Ajibola.

Ajibola was shot by suspected gunmen on Wednesday night, June 3, in the MDS area of Osogbo and is currently receiving treatment at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

According to the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, the attack occurred at about 9:50 p.m. when two armed men riding on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire on the victim in what has been described as an attempted murder.

Ojelabi said police operatives responded to a distress call, evacuated the victim to a medical facility, and launched a manhunt for the attackers.

Reacting to the news via his X handle, Davido, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, said everyone, irrespective of political differences, should not contribute to insecurity. He stated that the murder attempt should be condemned by all.

He further said that if the APC is confident of its popularity, it should prove it through votes during the election and not through guns or violence.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026.
