Afrobeats superstar Davido has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral moment involving Davrel, dismissing claims that the young man sat on his chair during an encounter in Benin.
The incident had sparked reactions online, with some social media users criticizing Davrel and questioning the circumstances surrounding the viral moment.
However, Davido has now offered his side of the story, insisting that Davrel never sat on his chair and suggesting that the backlash was driven by resentment toward his privileged background.
According to the singer, people were simply being unfair because Davrel comes from a wealthy family.
“Davrel never sat on my chair. People are just stupid. They were only bitter because he’s a rich kid. They did the same thing to me during my first three years in the industry. They criticized me for being a rich kid,” Davido said.
Reflecting on his own experience in the entertainment industry, the singer noted that he also faced similar criticism early in his career because of his wealthy background.
Davido’s comments have since added another dimension to the conversation, as he defended Davrel against the criticism that followed the viral footage.
